GST Reconciliation Tool

The GST Reconciliation Tool helps Indian businesses match their purchase register against GSTR-2B — the auto-drafted ITC statement from the GST portal — to identify matching invoices, mismatches, and ITC at risk (invoices in your books but not yet filed by suppliers).

Why GSTR-2B reconciliation matters

Since April 1, 2026, the GSTN portal blocks GSTR-3B filing if your claimed ITC exceeds what's auto-populated in GSTR-2B. If you claim ITC on an invoice that your supplier hasn't filed in GSTR-1, that ITC is at risk — and you can face:

Monthly GSTR-2B reconciliation is the only reliable way to catch these problems before filing.

Formula

**4-Pass Matching Engine:**

**Pass 1 — Exact Match:** GSTIN + Invoice Number + Tax Amount (+/-Rs 1)
**Pass 2 — Fuzzy Match:** GSTIN + Invoice Number (Levenshtein <= 2, O->0, I->1, S->5, B->8)
**Pass 3 — Amount Match:** GSTIN + Tax Amount (+/-Rs 0.50) + Date (+/-7 days)
**Pass 4 — Cross-Period:** Same invoice in adjacent month's GSTR-2B

**ITC at Risk** = Sum of (CGST + SGST + IGST) for all invoices in books but NOT in GSTR-2B

**Tax Amount Tolerance:** +/-Rs 1.00 for exact match, +/-Rs 0.50 for amount match

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data safe?

Yes. All reconciliation happens entirely in your browser. No data is uploaded to any server. No signup required. No data stored. When you close the tab, your data is gone. This is 100% private — safer than uploading to any cloud service.

What file formats are supported?

GSTR-2B: JSON file downloaded from GST portal, or Excel export. Purchase register: CSV, Excel (.xlsx, .xls), or JSON. The tool auto-detects columns from Tally, Zoho Books, BUSY, ClearTax, and manual Excel exports.

What is ITC at risk?

ITC at risk is the total input tax credit on invoices that are in your purchase register (books) but NOT in GSTR-2B. This means your supplier has not yet filed GSTR-1 for these invoices. Under Section 16(2)(aa) of the CGST Act, you can only claim ITC on invoices that appear in GSTR-2B. If the supplier doesn't file, you lose that ITC permanently after the Section 16(4) deadline.

What happens if I claim ITC not in GSTR-2B?

Since April 1, 2026, the GSTN portal blocks GSTR-3B filing if your claimed ITC exceeds the ITC auto-populated in GSTR-2B. This means you MUST reconcile and ensure your suppliers have filed before you file GSTR-3B. Late filing attracts Rs 50-200/day penalty and can block your e-way bills.

How does the matching engine work?

The tool uses a 4-pass matching engine: Pass 1 matches exactly on GSTIN + invoice number + tax amount. Pass 2 uses fuzzy matching for invoice number typos (O->0, I->1, S->5, B->8, Levenshtein distance <= 2). Pass 3 matches on GSTIN + tax amount + date for invoices with completely different numbers. Pass 4 checks if the invoice appears in an adjacent month's GSTR-2B (cross-period match for late-filing suppliers).

Can I send WhatsApp messages automatically?

In this free tool, you can generate WhatsApp message text in English, Hindi, or Hinglish, which you copy and paste into WhatsApp manually. For automated WhatsApp sending via the official WhatsApp Business API, vendor tracking, and follow-up reminders, check out our automated version (coming soon).

Do I need to create an account?

No. This is a free tool with no signup, no login, and no data storage. Just upload your files, reconcile, and download the report. Your data never leaves your browser.

How is this different from ClearTax or GSTAgent?

This tool is free, requires no signup, and runs entirely in your browser for maximum privacy. It includes WhatsApp vendor chase message generation in 3 languages. ClearTax costs Rs 40,000+/year and is built for CA firms. GSTAgent costs Rs 999-7,500/month. Our free tool covers the core reconciliation need; our upcoming automated version will add GSP API, WhatsApp API, and vendor tracking at a fraction of the cost.
