Why a higher fitment factor doesn't mean a huge day-one in-hand jump
Many employees think a 2x fitment factor means their salary doubles. It does not, because:
- DA resets to 0% on the new basic pay
- HRA is recalculated on the new basic (usually at a lower percentage)
- TA is revised to a new base
- Tax bracket may change
So the immediate in-hand increase is usually 15-30% at 1.92x, even though basic pay nearly doubles. The real gains come over the next 2-3 years as DA rises again on the higher basic.
